Bridge Abutments & Retaining Walls

The A5 Weeford to Fazeley scheme aimed to ease congestion and improve safety by replacing the single carriageway with a new dual carriageway. To ensure accessibility, pedestrian crossing facilities were provided over the A38 near Blackbrook Farm.

Geoquest Co. (Geoquest) was tasked by Parsons Brinckerhoff, the Highways Agency’s lead designer, to design and supply the bridge abutments and retaining walls. These abutments were constructed with galvanised steel soil reinforcement and granular fill, faced with precast concrete panels featuring a broken rib design. Geoquest provided the materials and offered on-site training, ensuring a smooth and effective construction process.

This project exemplified Geoquest’s expertise in delivering innovative, cost-effective solutions while supporting the contractor with practical training for seamless execution.
